The Kármán Line

The Kármán Line

The Karman line is an artificial boundary between Earths Atmosphere and Outer Space.  The FAI defines the Kármán line as space beginning 100 kilometres (54 nautical miles; 62 miles; 330,000 feet) above Earths's sea level.  ASB accepts the FAI Karman line definition.

The Great Conjunction

The Great Conjunction

Skywatchers are in for an end-of-year treat. What has become known popularly as the “Christmas Star” is an especially vibrant planetary conjunction easily visible in the evening sky over the next two weeks as the bright planets Jupiter and Saturn come together, culminating on the night of Dec. 21. In 1610, Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei pointed his telescope to the night sky, discovering the four moons of Jupiter – Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. In that same year, Galileo also discovered a strange oval surrounding Saturn, which later observations determined to be its rings. These discoveries changed how people understood the...

Comet NEOWISE

Comet NEOWISE

We captured these images of Comet Neowise from the Courtney Campbell Causeway Trail in Tampa Florida on July 18, 2020. The top images exposure is enhanced so we can see and study the comet better. Bottom image is the comet captured in the night sky with a 200mm zoom lens with some cloud distortion. Photo captured by Yes I Shoot Models Photographer Anthony Wright for ASB.  C/2020 F3 or Comet Neowise was discovered by a team using the WISE space telescope under the NEOWISE Program on March 27, 2020.  You can only see this comet once every 7000...

How much does it cost to send things to Space?

How much does it cost to send things to Space?

Between 1970 and 2000 the cost to send thing up into space stayed the same. I cost around $18,500 to send 1 Kilogram of anything into space. Now with SpaceX new Falcon 9 Rocker it cost around $3000 to send one Kilogram in to space. That prices is only getting cheaper as new rocket companies come into play.    As of now ASB will not build and rockets but will be a customer with companies like SpaceX and Rocket lab to move AI robotic Drills and satellites back and forth to space.

NEOs

NEOs

Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) are comets and asteroids that have been nudged by the gravitational attraction of nearby planets into orbits that allow them to enter near Earth. Composed mostly of water ice with embedded dust particles, comets originally formed in the cold outer planetary system while most of the rocky asteroids formed in the warmer inner solar system between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The scientific interest in comets and asteroids is due largely to their status as the relatively unchanged remnant debris from the solar system formation process some 4.6 billion years ago. The giant outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn,...
